I'll be honest.

I'm not usually the first person lining up for the latest gadget.

In fact, if something requires a 47-page instruction manual and three YouTube tutorials to understand, there's a pretty good chance I've already lost interest.

But there are a handful of travel tech products that have earned a permanent spot in my carry-on.

Not because they're trendy.

Not because TikTok told me I needed them.

Because they've helped me avoid dead phones, lost luggage, overstimulation, terrible sleep, and at least a few travel-related meltdowns.

As a therapist, I've learned that stress often comes from the accumulation of little things. As someone with ADHD, I've also learned that those little things can become surprisingly big things when you're tired, out of routine, and trying to navigate an unfamiliar airport.

These are the travel tech products that genuinely make traveling easier for me.

1. The Tracker That Gives Me Instant Peace of Mind

Full disclosure: the photo below is actually one of our trackers attached to my child's watch.

One thing you'll quickly learn about me is that I rarely use products for only one purpose.

The same tracker that helps me keep tabs on my kids also gets attached to suitcases, backpacks, carry-ons, and pretty much anything I don't want disappearing while we're traveling.

There are two types of travelers.

The people who casually check a bag and never think about it again.

And the people who spend the next six hours wondering where their suitcase is.

I am firmly in the second category.

Maybe it's the ADHD.

Maybe it's anxiety.

Maybe it's because airlines occasionally seem to send luggage on its own independent vacation.

Whatever the reason, I like knowing where my stuff is.

That's why I started traveling with an item tracker attached to my suitcase.

If you've ever stood at baggage claim watching everyone else's luggage arrive while yours remains mysteriously absent, you know the feeling.

Being able to quickly check an app and see where my bag is provides an unreasonable amount of comfort.

I also love attaching trackers to backpacks, carry-ons, and other important items.

Because let's be honest, if I put something down "just for a second," there's a non-zero chance I forget where I left it.

Why I Love It

✔ Helps me keep track of luggage, backpacks, and important items

✔ Works with Apple's Find My network

✔ Alerts me if I leave something behind

✔ Easy setup with my phone

✔ Gives me peace of mind while traveling

Real Travel Note

The photo shows one attached to my child's watch because that's how we were using it during one of our recent trips.

But these same trackers regularly end up in our luggage, backpacks, carry-ons, and travel bags.

For me, it's less about tracking a specific item and more about reducing the mental load that comes with travel.

One less thing to worry about is always a win.

2. Noise-Cancelling Headphones: My Airport Survival Tool

If I could only recommend one travel tech category, it would probably be noise-cancelling audio.

Airports are loud.

Airplanes are loud.

People are loud.

Everything is loud.

As a therapist, I know our brains are constantly processing information from our environment, even when we don't realize it.

All of that stimulation takes energy.

By the time I board a flight, I don't always want more input.

Sometimes I want less.

That's where my Soundcore Q30 headphones come in.

Whether I'm listening to music, a podcast, an audiobook, or absolutely nothing at all, they help create a little bubble of calm.

And honestly, sometimes that's priceless.

Why I love them:

  • Excellent value for the price

  • Comfortable for long flights

  • Effective noise cancellation

  • Long battery life

  • Creates a quiet travel bubble

3. Earbuds for When I Want to Travel Lighter

As much as I love my over-ear headphones, there are times when I don't want another thing hanging around my neck or taking up space in my carry-on.

That's when I switch to my Soundcore earbuds.

They're small, lightweight, and surprisingly effective.

I especially love them during layovers, walking through airports, or when I want something compact for exploring my destination.

They're also fantastic for phone calls.

Because apparently airports have collectively decided that every important conversation should happen beside a boarding gate announcement.

Why I love them:

  • Compact and easy to pack

  • Great for flights and layovers

  • Effective noise reduction

  • Excellent call quality

  • Comfortable for extended wear

  • Long battery life

4. The Kindle That Saves My Suitcase Space

I always travel with reading material.

Always.

Whether I actually read it is a separate conversation.

In my mind, every trip includes several relaxing hours of uninterrupted reading.

In reality, I often read two pages before falling asleep or getting distracted by snacks.

But I still like having the option.

The Kindle has completely replaced traveling with multiple books.

Instead of deciding which book deserves precious luggage space, I can bring an entire library with me.

I love having different options depending on my mood.

Sometimes I want a thriller.

Sometimes I want a self-development book.

Sometimes I want something light and easy while sitting by a pool.

The Kindle lets me bring all of them without adding extra weight to my suitcase.

Why I love it:

  • Holds thousands of books in one device

  • Perfect for flights and vacations

  • Lightweight and easy to pack

  • Saves luggage space

  • Lets me switch books depending on my mood

5. The Travel Sound Machine That Helps Me Sleep Anywhere

One thing I've learned about myself is that I do not sleep well in complete silence.

I know some people love it.

I am not one of those people.

At home, I always have some kind of background noise.

A fan.

White noise.

Something.

My brain seems to appreciate having predictable sound in the background.

Which becomes a problem when I'm traveling.

Hotels have unfamiliar noises.

Vacation rentals have unfamiliar noises.

Sometimes the room is completely silent, which somehow feels louder than actual noise.

Bringing a small sound machine has completely changed how I sleep while traveling. Instead of focusing on hallway conversations, elevator dings, slamming doors, or mysterious noises outside, I can create a familiar environment that helps my brain settle.

As someone with ADHD, familiarity often matters more than I realize.

Good sleep makes everything about travel easier.

This has become one of those things I automatically pack.

Why I love it:

  • Creates familiar background noise

  • Helps me fall asleep in unfamiliar places

  • Masks hotel and hallway noise

  • Compact and travel friendly

  • Helps me wake up feeling more rested

6. The Portable Charger That Has Saved Me More Times Than I'd Like to Admit

Let's end with a little honesty.

My phone battery has never once chosen a convenient time to die.

It's always:

  • Right before boarding

  • While using GPS

  • While looking for a hotel

  • While trying to show a boarding pass

Never during a calm, uneventful moment.

A portable charger has become one of those items I refuse to travel without.

Because modern travel relies heavily on our phones.

Boarding passes.

Maps.

Hotel confirmations.

Translation apps.

Restaurant recommendations.

When your phone dies, things become significantly more complicated.

This is one of those products I hope I never need.

And somehow end up needing every single trip.

Why I love it:

  • Keeps my devices charged while traveling

  • Perfect for airports and long travel days

  • Gives me peace of mind

  • Compact and easy to carry

  • Helps avoid travel-related panic

Final Thoughts

As much as I love traveling, I've learned that making travel easier isn't about perfection.

It's about reducing friction. The fewer little problems I have to solve throughout the day, the more energy I have to enjoy the experience. These products won't eliminate every travel challenge.

But they've helped me stay more organized, sleep better, reduce overstimulation, and avoid a few unnecessary headaches along the way.

And for me, that's more than enough reason to keep packing them.

If there's one thing you'll learn about me, it's that I love finding things that make life feel a little easier.

Whether that's a travel essential, a parenting hack, a cozy self-care find, or something that simply makes me think, "Why didn't I know about this sooner?"

I'm grateful you're here and I hope you found something helpful.

Wishing you comfort, calm, and a little less overwhelm wherever life takes you.
