There was a time when my idea of a wellness routine looked suspiciously like another full-time job.

Take your vitamins.

Drink enough water.

Eat enough protein.

Get your steps in.

At some point, "healthy" started feeling like another thing on my to-do list.

As a therapist, I spend my days helping other people navigate stress, emotions, relationships, and life challenges.

As a mom, I'm helping find missing shoes, signing permission forms, making lunches, and reminding children for the seventeenth time to put their dishes in the dishwasher.

Then there's life.

Laundry.

Appointments.

Work.

Running a website.

Creating content.

Trying to remember what I'm making for supper.

By the time I add one more "healthy habit" to my list, my brain is already waving a white flag.


The Morning I Finally Realized Something Had To Change


A while back, I was standing in my kitchen staring at what can only be described as a small supplement pharmacy.

Vitamin D.

Magnesium.

Probiotics.

A multivitamin.

Immune support.

And a few others that had somehow made their way into my routine because somebody on Instagram convinced me they were life-changing.


The problem wasn't that I didn't care about my health.

The problem was consistency.

Some mornings I'd take everything.

Some mornings I'd forget.

Some mornings I'd stare at all the bottles and think:

"There has got to be an easier way."


That was the moment I stopped asking:

"What's the perfect wellness routine?"


And started asking:

My mornings are still busy.

I still have children asking questions before I've finished my first coffee.

I still have client notes to review.

I still have emails waiting.

I still occasionally forget where I put my phone while actively holding it.

But my wellness routine feels much simpler now.


Water.

I think many women are carrying far more mental load than we give ourselves credit for.
