ADHD, Supplements, and Why I Needed Fewer Things to Remember

As a therapist, I spend a lot of time talking about habits, routines, and systems.
As someone with ADHD?
I spend a lot of time forgetting those same habits, routines, and systems.
The irony is not lost on me.

The person who wakes up early.
Takes all their supplements.
Drinks enough water.
Exercises.
Meal preps.
Meditates.
Keeps a spotless house.
And somehow remembers where they left their phone.
Unfortunately, real life tends to look a little different.
And if you also have ADHD, there's a good chance you know exactly what I mean.

The less I have to remember, the better I tend to do.
I wasn't looking for another supplement.

ADHD Isn't About Motivation
One of the biggest misconceptions about ADHD is that we don't care.

As a therapist, I see this all the time.
People blame themselves.
They assume they need more discipline.
More motivation.
More willpower.
But often what they really need is less friction.
Less complexity.
Less to remember.
My Supplement Collection Was Becoming Ridiculous
At one point my kitchen counter looked like a tiny supplement store.

Vitamin D.
Magnesium.
Probiotics.
A multivitamin.
Immune support.
Electrolytes.
And a few things I bought because Instagram convinced me they would change my life.
The problem wasn't whether they worked.
The problem was remembering all of them.
Some days I'd take everything.
Some days I'd take half.
Some days I'd forget entirely.
And every time I forgot, I'd feel frustrated with myself.
Not because I didn't care.
Because I did care.
