The Airplane Hoodie I Loved So Much I Bought My Husband One Too (An Honest Comfrt Review)

Right before my husband and I went to the Dominican in April, I kept seeing the same hoodie all over my TikTok and Instagram feeds — the “airplane mode” travel hoodie with the built-in eye mask.

Normally I’d scroll right past, but between doing affiliate marketing myself and the fact that I have not slept without an eye mask in over fifteen years, I was intrigued.

♡ The Comfrt Airplane Mode Travel Hoodie looked good quality online, so I bought one for myself and one for my husband, and honestly, we both loved it. The fabric is heavyweight and soft, and I’ve washed mine at least fifteen or twenty times at this point and it still looks brand new.

The pockets are the real star, though — my passport fits in one, and inside the kangaroo pocket there are smaller pockets within the pocket, so my AirPods don’t just flop around loose while I’m laying across a row of seats with the kids.

It’s also slightly weighted, so it feels like a gentle hug, which sounds silly until you’re overstimulated in an airport and it’s exactly what your nervous system needed.

The Part Nobody Mentions in the Ads

Here’s my honest, unsponsored truth: I run hot. Not because I just turned forty, even though that’s the joke I keep making — I’ve always run warm, I sweat easily, and that lovely heavyweight fabric that keeps you so cozy on a chilly flight becomes a problem the second you’re standing in a Dominican airport with zero air conditioning.

My husband, who also runs warm, said the exact same thing. We loved everything about it and still couldn’t fully cool down in it once we landed.

So when Comfrt came out with a lightweight version, I didn’t hesitate. ♡ The Comfrt Lightweight Halo Hoodie has all the same features I loved — the eye mask, the pockets, the hood — in a fabric that actually breathes. I’m not sure yet if it comes in a zip-up too, but if it does, that’s the one I’m buying next.

In the meantime there’s already ♡ the original Airplane Mode Travel Zip Hoodie, which is the same idea in the heavier fabric — the zip lets you crack it open and cool off mid-flight the same way you’d stick a leg out from under a warm blanket, instead of having to fully peel the whole thing off over your head next to a sleeping toddler.

We’re heading back to the Dominican again this October, and I already know the lightweight one is coming with me.

If you run cold, the original heavyweight hoodie is genuinely one of the comfiest things either of us owns. If you run hot like me, save yourself the sweaty airport photos and start with the lightweight version instead.

Below is the full packing list, broken down by category so you can work through it section by section, or just skim for whatever you're missing.

Wherever I've got a product I actually use and recommend, the item is clickable and will take you straight to my pick on Amazon — I'm still adding links as I go, so not everything is linked yet.

A note on how this one's laid out: a few categories are split into his and hers simply because the products differ — silicone rings, rash guards, sun hats, that kind of thing.

Take whatever applies to the two of you and ignore the rest. This isn't a his-column-hers-column situation, it's just easier than listing everything twice.

One thing I want to say up front: you do not need to pack every single item on this list. Nobody does. Think of this as a helpful starting point, not a mandate. Pull from it based on the kind of trip you're actually taking. If you're headed somewhere all-inclusive where you'll live in swimsuits, skip half the going-out clothes.

If there's no nice dinner on the itinerary, skip the date night outfit. If you're road-tripping instead of flying, the whole airport section is irrelevant to you. This is here to make the "what do we even need" spiral easier, not to give you one more thing you have to fully check off.

And if you'd rather have this whole thing as a printable to check off by hand, grab your free copy below before you dive in.
