Why I Haven't Shaved My Legs in Months (My Honest Ulike Air 10 Review)

I am about to tell you something that should not work as well as it does, given that I am the poster child for falling off a routine: I have not consistently shaved my legs in months, and it's because of an at-home IPL hair removal device that kept working even after I basically forgot it existed.
That's the real test of anything in my house. Not "does it work when I'm consistent," because when am I ever consistent. The real question is does it survive an ADHD brain, a chaotic year, and weeks of total neglect and still deliver. The Ulike Air 10 passed.

What the Ulike Air 10 Actually Is

It's an at-home IPL hair removal device — basically the salon laser treatment, minus the salon and minus the price of going every few weeks. I originally got my first Ulike, the Air 3, before my husband and I went to Cuba in April 2024. I upgraded to the Air 10 this past January or February, ahead of our Dominican trip in April. The Air 10 has two lights instead of one, plus a mode built specifically for thicker, darker hair, which is exactly my situation. It is, and I don't say this lightly, chef's kiss effective.
The ADHD Reality of Using It (Or Not Using It)
Here's my honest, no-filter update: I used it a ton before our April trip, then basically didn't touch it for months. ADHD does that to routines — I get distracted, I fall out of things, and hair removal devices are not exempt from that pattern. So this is a real report on what happens when you're inconsistent with it, not a sponsored fantasy where I used it perfectly every week.
The honest answer: barely anything grew back where it matters. The stubborn spots are my ankles, a little on my shins and knees, and the bikini area (that hair has always been more stubborn everywhere, IPL included). My armpits have a bit more hair than they did a few months ago, which is mildly annoying, but nowhere close to where I started. And my upper thighs are basically peach fuzz now — when I do shave, it clogs the razor because the hair is so fine you can barely see it.
Where It's Worked Best For Me
My legs, honestly, are the biggest win. If someone said "hey, spur of the moment, we're going to the beach," I could skip the shower shave entirely and be fine — maybe touch up my bikini line, and that's it. I also use it on my upper lip, and even there, the regrowth is finer than it used to be after months of not touching it. My husband has actually asked me to use it on him in a few spots too, which tells you something.
How I Actually Use It

With the Air 3, I was seriously consistent the first month — 3 to 4 times a week — then dropped to twice a week, then weekly, then every few weeks as maintenance. By the time we took a week-long trip down south, I didn't shave once the whole week. The Air 10's cooling technology means you barely feel anything while it's targeting the follicle, and a full-body session runs about 10 to 15 minutes when you're doing it a few times a week. It's annoying to stop what you're doing to fit it in, but it's backend work: you put in a little time now so you get more time back later, the same logic as meal prepping (which, for the record, I am much better at recommending than doing).
The Real Payoff
This is the part that actually sold me, and it's not really about hair. It's about executive function. As someone with ADHD, I will do a genuine cost-analysis in my head before I get in the shower, and if shaving is on the list, I need to build myself up for it — sometimes literally for days. If I don't have to shave, my shower becomes: wash my body, wash my hair, get out. No dread, no extra step, no energy tax. Every bit of friction I can remove from my routine matters, especially on the days my brain is already busy losing time to side quests.
My Plan Before Our October Trip

I bought this device in the middle of an absolutely brutal stretch of life, and I still saw results even without perfect consistency — that's the honest bar I'm judging it against. Starting in September, I'm ramping back up to two or three sessions a week so I'm smooth and low-maintenance for our October trip, no shaving required once we're there. If a device can survive months of me completely ignoring it and still deliver results like this, I trust it to catch back up fast once I actually show up for it.

If there's one thing you'll learn about me, it's that I love finding things that make life feel a little easier.
Whether that's a travel essential, a parenting hack, a cozy self-care find, or something that simply makes me think, “Why didn't I know about this sooner?”
I'm grateful you're here and I hope you found something helpful.
Wishing you comfort, calm, and a little less overwhelm wherever life takes you.
